TECH News

Let’s start with the tech news I have seen this week.

• Did you know Nvidia's Blackwell B200 is the world's most powerful AI chip? CEO Jensen Huang has claimed that the Blackwell platform will propel the 'new industrial revolution.' It achieves this by facilitating the training of expansive language models that can scale up to 10 trillion parameters. To put this into perspective, GPT-4 has only 1.8 trillion parameters.

• Apple is being sneaky smurf and quietly Canadian startup DarwinAI. This is to catch up with OpenAI, Microsoft, and Google. You can learn more here.

• It’s funny that one scientist from Australia claimed to be the inventor of Bitcoin, but a UK court dismissed his claim. 😂

• In other news, Reddit has been trying to sell its user data for $200 million, as it is going public soon. This has also sparked controversy.

• The SEC slapped Wall Street firms with a $400K fine because they lied about using AI to make a buzz about their products.

That’s most of the gist from this week’s tech. Now, let's take a look at the AI scene.

AI News

The AI scene is moving faster than the speed of light.

It is nearly impossible to keep up with all the latest changes. But let me try to summarize them.

• Sam Altman hints at GPT-5 in a podcast interview with Lex Fridman. He also addressed many other things like legal disputes with Elon, OpenAI board Drama, etc. Sam mentioned current GPT-4 models are still “kinda sucks.” He also mentioned the new GPT will be out at the end of this year but probably will not named GPT-5. So, those buying GPT6 or GPT7 domain names are too bad for you.😂 Listen to the full podcast here with a summary.

• Google researchers have created VLOGGER, an artificial intelligence system that can produce remarkably realistic videos using only a single still image and an audio clip.

• Scientists are using AI to decode the mysteries of genetics and biology. At Stanford, AI was given human cells' chemical and genetic components to organize cells and uncover undiscernible patterns. The AI even discovered a cell that generates a hormone responsible for aiding human survival in low-oxygen environments, which had eluded scientists for centuries. This is why large companies are pouring billions into AI ventures. But remember, this is still very much the tip of the iceberg.

• Well, Elon Musk kept his word on open-source Grok-1. Grok-1 comes with 314B parameters. So, think before you download this and start experimenting. It will require a superior GPU to make it move.

• Did you see the OpenAI and Figure AI robot with near-human interaction? If not, you can watch this video on my FB. How does that make you feel? Yes, it can think (in a way) and respond accordingly.

• While you might almost get enticed by the above, the story is far from finishing as Nvidia unveiled Project GR00T, an AI foundation model designed to revolutionize humanoid robot learning. The Generalist Robot 00 Technology project was unveiled at the GTC conference. Nvidia Reveals Project GROOT and Disney Robots at GTC Conference. Nvidia asserts that it is collaborating with leading figures in robotics, such as Boston Dynamics, 1X Technologies, Agility Robotics, Apptronik, and Figure AI.

  Mustafa Suleyman, co-founder of DeepMind and Inflection, will join Microsoft to lead Copilot/Microsoft AI. Satya Nadella explains this here.

PRODUCTIVITY Tools

These are the tools I genuinely believe are worth a look at.

1. Katalist is a unique tool in a space with too many AI image generation tools—dimes a dozen. It uses AI to turn your scripts into visual stories with customizable scenes, characters, and props. You can use this to get the AI to build a storyline with consistent characters and scenes. You can use it in animated videos, ebooks, and more.

2. Minvo claims to contend with Descript and Opus Pro for social media videos using AI to select the best areas for the videos. But it has a bit of a learning curve and some UI quirks/bugs, which can make things uneasy. In his video, Joe Maracic goes through the product. You might want to watch that.

3. MiniApps is a set of numerous productivity tools for daily use. You can download thumbnails from YouTube videos, verify what hosting services are in use, or build UTM tags. There are way too many small utility web apps to fit here. Take a look, perhaps.

AI Tips

Use Microsoft Copilot to analyze PDF files

While ChatGPT Plus can perform data analysis, charts, and more, Microsoft’s Copilot will do that for Free. Here is how to do it.

1. Go to the Copilot website.

2. Log in or sign up.

3. In the chat window, pick the attachment icon, which looks like a paperclip.📎

4. Select a PDF or Spreadsheet file, and ask a relevant question in the prompt. See the image, for example.

NOTE: The limit in the file size for the free Copilot version is 1 MB.
