Elon Getting Sued: While Elon was trying to Sue OpenAI on their promises, OpenAI came back with documents that could effectively drop Elon’s claim from the court.  OpenAI says Musk wanted complete control or a merger with Tesla. They couldn't agree on a profit-sharing deal with Musk because they believed one person shouldn't have complete control. OpenAI claims Musk left to create his own AI competitor in Tesla after saying OpenAI's chances of success were zero.

While this is happening, Parag Agrawal, The ex-CEO of Twitter, and some other high-ranking employees are taking legal action against Elon Musk. They're asking for $128 million because they believe Musk didn't pay them the money they were due when they left their jobs.

Oh, that's Fine! The European Union has imposed a $2 billion fine on Apple due to a competition issue. The problem was that Apple, the company that makes iPhones, didn't let Spotify and other companies tell users about different ways to pay for things outside of Apple's App Store. The EU considers this unfair.

AI News

Bold Claim from Anthropic: Anthropic says its new Claude AI models are better than GPT-4. However, this can differ depending on the situation. GPT-4 is widely available, so newer models like Gemini and Claude can use larger versions. But just because they're bigger doesn't mean they're always better for general use. Last week, I tested a simple code from Gemini, and it gave me some useless code, while GPT-4 gave a shorter, more functional code. People's experiences with these models can vary, depending on how they use them.

Claude 3 vs. the other AI models

Anthropic’s new AI model is called Claude 3 Opus. According to Anthropic Data, this model is better than popular AI models, like GPT-4 and Gemini Ultra. Opus is very good at understanding complex thoughts, solving math problems, and writing computer code. We will test and see how this goes. Find out how to access Claude 3 later in this email.

ChatGPT now Reads out Loud: OpenAI has added a new "Read Aloud" feature to ChatGPT. This helpful tool lets ChatGPT read its responses out loud, making it easy to listen without looking at a screen.

Read Aloud can identify and read aloud in 37 languages, automatically detecting the language and offering five voice styles. It is compatible with GPT-4 and GPT-3.5 on the web, iOS, and Android platforms.

Madonna is taking the AI Stage:  Madonna's team used AI to create visuals after she wasn't happy with the usual CGI. They found a company called Runway that makes videos from text. With Runway's help, they made beautiful backgrounds for a song with a tropical feel. Runway's co-founder said that other famous musicians like A$AP Rocky, Kanye, and Slash also use their technology for their videos.

China is bringing up underpowered startups using AI vouchers: China is working on helping AI startups, even with chip shortages worldwide. The Chinese government is starting a plan in 17 cities. AI startups can get special vouchers for cloud computing. These vouchers help them get the tools they need without spending much money. China also wants to make it easier for these companies to set up their own data centers by giving them vouchers worth between $140,000 and $280,000 for cloud computing.

1) PodCast: Thomas J. Raef on the Shift in How Hackers Attack and How to Protect Your Site. Thomas founded We Watch Your Website in 2007, a service that helps websites eliminate malware. He has observed hackers evolving their methods to hijack sites over the years. They now employ various tactics, such as exploiting plugins or session cookies. Thomas shares data from 2023 that reveals how website threats are shifting. He also suggests some logical steps to safeguard your sites.

2) Death of Cwicly: Cwicly, a plugin rooted in Gutenberg, has been an advanced tool for crafting dynamic WordPress sites. Regrettably, it has abruptly informed its users that it's shutting down its operations due to personal attacks and slander. However, I'm afraid this is not the truth. Many people have subscribed to their lifetime agency plans and have already developed numerous sites for their clients. These people now face the daunting task of redoing everything from scratch. Whatever the reason behind it, there were at least three different ways to close down, but the founders chose the relatively weak and irresponsible manner of doing so.

Claude offers assistance with summarizing PDFs, research papers, essays, and other documents, explaining complex images, simplifying complicated calculations, offering design suggestions for websites and rooms, and transcribing handwritten notes into digital text. You can access the free Claude 3 Sonnet model, but the advanced Opus model requires a subscription to Claude Pro at $20/month + taxes.
